Suggested Stuff

I'll be adding to this as I go along, it will be an assortment of books, podcasts, shows, and films which I find to be quiet feminist-themed.

Albums

Live Through This
This is actually an album by Hole, the band that catapulted Courtney Love to fame in 1994. It's angry and it has no regrets. Some women have remarked that it even helped them through divorces and other tough times, it speaks about injustices and abuses suffered by women, and, personally, has even helped me through the hard times. (Side note: Totally fun when bands play a few songs from it when waiting for the equipment to be set up)

The Punk Singer Soundtrack
This is basically a greatest hits album of everything Kathleen Hanna has done with Bikini Kill, Le Tigre, Julie Ruin and The Julie Ruin Project. Like Hole, this album speaks out against the societal injustices against women and is a very empowering listen.

TV Shows

Parks and Recreation
Powerful women, Women in power. Leslie Knope. Optimism. Waffles. Need I say more? It's the genius that is Amy Poehler FFS!

How To Get Away With Murder
Again, women in power. Get this, an independent black woman, who is bisexual, is an independent Harvard lawyer, and is smart enough to pervert the law, owns her sexuality. Doesn't regret a thing. Damn, this is an empowering piece of television.

Buffy The Vampire Slayer
It starts when she is 16 and ends when she is around 23. And in that time, she continuously saves the world and matures. It shows the complexities and strengths of women. It was also one of the first TV shows to show a lesbian couple, and also deals with certain themes, such as abuse, family troubles, loss, grief, separation and more.

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt
So get this. She's a girl who spent 15 years in a bunker, convinced that the world has ended. Once she finally finds freedom, she heads to New York and lands a job and a life of her own. It's one of the funniest things I've watched on telly in ages. Written by Tina Fey, this show also deals with women learning to lead normal lives despite missing mothers, cultural differences, and societal problems.  It also shows women learning to independent, regardless of the fact they were held captive for 15 years, or are just coming out of a divorce.

Podcasts

Stuff Your Mom Never Told You
This is actually a podcast/YouTube channel. It explains everything, and discusses everything too. Like the roots and origins of feminism, intersectionality, the branches of feminism, daddy/mammy issues, politics of sun tanning, religion, abortion, etc etc. I binged on this when I first found it, and I always make sure I have at least 5 podcasts downloaded onto my phone when travelling.

The Guilty Feminist
A podcast by Sofie Hagen and Deborah Frances-White which discusses lots of issues that women feel the need to discuss, such as relationships with food and public spaces, to boobs and expressing their anger. It's a highly funny podcast by two amazing comediennes and I definitely recommend it to anyone who has to commute in the morning.

Books

#GIRLBOSS
So this is actually a book, which the author herself says isn't a feminist book. However, it does promote success for women, and again shows women in power and can be quite the empowering read.

How To Be A Woman
The books that got me onto the feminist path. Funny, witty, clever, blunt, and certainly something that I tend to reread at least once a year.
